Treasures

Valued treasures are different for each person, it might be an expensive piece of jewelry or a simple rock that was picked up by a child and put in a treasure box. But sometimes a treasure is something most of us take for granted - furniture.

Last week a single mother with two children, ages 9 and 3, came to our Center. She said they were eating, sitting and sleeping on the floor. Her meager income was a disability check. The mother was concerned about her children who were ashamed to let any of their friends see the empty apartment. One of our volunteers, who lives on a fixed income herself, promised to make some phone calls to local churches and people who might be able to help. After she received no response to her requests, she talked to her husband who agreed they could put together fifty dollars and check at local garage sales for suitable furniture. They found exactly what they were looking for but at a price well over the fifty dollars they had.
The volunteer went home and prayed for the mother and her family and was guided to return to the garage sale the following day. The furniture was still there and she talked to the owner, explaining why they were anxious to purchase the furniture for a family in need. The owner agreed to take fifty dollars for the wooden table and chairs, leather love seat, matching rocker, end table, lamps and a twin bed. The family also received a queen bed from another source.
The mother cried tears of joy and the volunteer was excited to know she was able to help.

Life Skill Classes Offered at the Center

The women who visit our Center are truly in need of more than immediate help. They need love, respect and acceptance. They also need family life training. By offering classes that meet their needs, we feel we are helping them to make better choices in life. This takes more space, more work, more volunteers and more finances. We have confidence that God will supply what is needed.

55% of women say they have abortions because they feel they can’t afford a baby or they do not feel confident.  Our Life Skill classes will help them

CDC reports that almost 50% of women who have abortions will have another one within their lifetime. Providing training programs in parenting, emphasizing mothering skills, can help create a family environment that may prevent future abortions.

By offering our Life-skill classes, we will be able to reach community support by those who may be leaning toward pro-abortion but also see the advantage of helping those who choose to carry their babies to full term.

Note: We offer free diapers to those who attend classes at our Center.

Thank You

THANK YOU

A big thank you for the anonymous donation we received at the 2012 banquet to update our furniture. We were able to purchase sturdy chairs that can be wiped clean and many other items to replace the worn furniture at the Center.

What We Are Doing at The Center

What we are doing at the Center
We are a Center for life - life for the mom and her baby.
So far this year we have  ministered to over 1,000 clients. 420 have been pregnant.  We were able to follow up with 250 pregnant women and know they gave birth. (By presenting them with a baby gift, upon the birth of her baby, we encourage the mother to come back to the Center and enable us to document their baby’s birth).
Some of those babies were born to mothers who were abortion-minded when  they first came to the Center, but changed their mind. 14 came to know Jesus as Savior.

The Pregnancy Help Center is an arm of the Church, reaching out to women with truth about life in the midst of a culture that regards life as expendable.

Notes from The Pregnancy Help Center Director

Notes from the Director
Abortion News -
An average of 3,322 abortions are performed in the U.S. every day.
137 abortions per hour.
Every 30 seconds a life is lost.

The United States, China, North Korea and Canada have the most radical abortion policies in the world.  We are one of only four countries that allow abortions to take place through 9 months of a pregnancy (for any reason) and sometimes subsidized with our tax money.  The most dangerous place in the world is in the womb. It is also a country where a child has arms and legs and other body parts amputated by a doctor, during the abortion process, and not given anesthesia.
Every year 32,000 Americans die on our nation’s highways. Every 10 days, that same number of abortions are performed in America.
And abortions have been legal for over 40 years in the U.S. To date more than 60 million lives have been terminated. The CDC abortion records show 55,772,015 in 2012, but they admit the actual termination number is higher than shown because different states have different laws on reporting statistics.

We have lost more than 25% of our population.
